Pastel painting, 1890-1900 by Lesser Ury. Signed lower left: L. Ury. Framed. Very good condition. Dimensions: 19.09 x 13.78 in ( 48,5 x 35 cm ), Framed: 31.3 x 24.8 in ( 79,5 x 63 cm ) Provenance: Richard and Charlotte Gerson, Breslau - after 1939 Great Britain Certificate by Dr. Sibylle Groß, Berlin, dated 12 October 2013. Listed in catalogue raisonné (Leo) Lesser Ury, born 1861 in Birnbaum, near Posen ( Poland ) - died 1931 in Berlin. Ury is one of the very important artists of the german impressionsts. He was a member of the Berliner Secession (a big retrospective -exhibition in 1922). His subjects were landscapes, urban landscapes, and interior scenes. Lesser Ury is recorded mainly for his impressionist Berlin city views, streets at night, rain depictions and café house scenes. This atmospheric style of painting can also be found in his landscapes.
