Rafael Durancamps i Folguera (Sabadell, 1891 - Barcelona, January 4, 1979) was a Spanish painter.
He learned the trade under the orders of Joan Vila Cinca and the influence of Joaquín Mir, with whom he had a friendship since he was young. He visited various museums to imbue himself with the technique of the great masters such as Velázquez or El Greco. In the early years his work shows a colorism where the influences of his teachers are noticeable. During those years he signs the works as R.Durán i Camps.
He exhibited for the first time in 1915 at the Sabadell Academy of Fine Arts, as part of a collective exhibition. His first notable exhibition was two years later, at the Galerias Laietanas. In 1926 he went to live in Paris, where he created his own style, emphasizing still lifes and landscapes. During his stay in Paris he opened an art gallery, known as "La Fenêtre Ouverte". Artists such as Dalí, Cézanne, André Derain, Raoul Dufy, Joan Miró and Picasso exhibited their work in this room. Thanks to the gallery, Durancamps came into contact with Parisian high society.
Back, albeit temporarily, in Sabadell, he was commissioned to paint some murals for the open-air museum of the Spanish Village in Barcelona, on the occasion of the Universal Exhibition of 1929. From 1932 he exhibited annually in the Sala Parés, although he maintained his residence usual in Paris until the end of 1939, at which time he returned to Spain at the start of the Second World War. He settled in Barcelona, but lived for periods in Sitges and Cadaqués, among other Catalan towns, and exhibited in Barcelona and Madrid, where he frequently visited the Prado Museum. It was in Madrid where he gave the conference "Lacras de la Pintura Actual", of which a reference book was published at the time, and where he was very critical of avant-garde art and all the isms that dubbed 20th-century art. . His work can be seen in the National Art Museum of Catalonia, as well as other museums and collections in various countries.

Rafael Durancamps
Rafael Durancamps i Folguera (Sabadell, March 29, 1891 [1] - Barcelona, January 4 [2], 1979) was a Spanish painter.
He learned the trade under the orders of Joan Vila Cinca and the influence of Joaquim Mir, with whom he established friendship as a young man. He visited several museums to impregnate himself with the technique of great masters such as Velázquez or El Greco. At this time his work shows a colorism where the influences of his teachers are noticed and he still signs his works as R.Durán i Camps. He exhibited for the first time in 1915 at the Academy of Fine Arts of Sabadell, within the framework of a collective exhibition. His first major show was in 1917, when he exhibited at the Galleries Laietanes. Later, in 1926, he went to live in Paris, where he created his own style, creating mostly dead natures and landscapes. [3] During his stay in Paris he opened an Art Gallery, known as La Fenêtre Ouverte. In this room exhibited artists such as Dalí, Cézanne, Derain, Dufy, Miró or Picasso. Thanks to this gallery, Durancamps came into contact with the high Parisian society. Once again in Sabadell, he was commissioned to paint some murals for the house of the town of the Poble Espanyol, on the occasion of the Universal Exhibition of 1929 in Barcelona. In 1930 he participated in the exhibition Barcelona seen by his artists, organized by the Royal Artistic Circle, which was held at the Palace of Decorative Arts of Barcelona, in which he presented the work El Port i muntanya de Montjuïc ( No. 188). [4] From 1932 he exhibited annually in Sala Parés, although his stay in Paris was extended until 1939, when he returned to Catalonia with the outbreak of World War II. He settled in Barcelona, but spent seasons in Sitges, Cadaqués ... and often exhibited in Barcelona and Madrid, [5] where he used to visit the Museo del Prado as a whole. He went to Madrid where he delivered the lecture «Lacras de la Pintura Actual», where he strongly criticized the avant-garde art and all the isms of the 20th century. His work can be seen at the National Museum of Art of Catalonia (MNAC), the Thermalia Museum, the Montserrat Museum, the Valls Museum, the Museu de Història de l'Hospitalet, the Víctor Balaguer Museum Library, the museum Vinseum, the Empordà Museum, the Sabadell Museum of Art [6] and in Madrid, among other collections of the country, such as the Gelonch Viladegut Collection [7] and international ones.

- "Moonlit River Scene", Early 20th Century Oil on Canvas by Luis Graner y ArrufiBy Luis Graner Y ArrufiLocated in Madrid, ESLUIS GRANER Y ARRUFI Spanish, 1863 - 1929 MOONLIT RIVER SCENE signed and dated "L. Graner, 1925" (lower right) Oil on canvas 20-1/8 X 30 inches (51X 76 cm.) framed: 25-3/4 X 35-3/4 inches (65 X 90.5 cm.) PROVENANCE NEAL AUCTION COMPANY, New Orleans, LA, USA Private Collection, Barcelona Graner paints this work, Moonlit on the river, during his stay in the United States in the last stage of his artistic life, from 1910 to 1928, in full stage of maturity. This artwork reflects the constant search of the artist for the effects of light in his work. This persistent concern for light remains throughout his artistic life, which he learned in his Parisian stage under the influence of the painter Frances Platour. The silver light of the moon and the small lights at distance, which are tiny foci of artificial light, reflecting the river water, forming a chromatic range of greens, ocher and pearly that give a certain mystery to the composition, creating a modern approach to the landscape, by placing the two large trees at the edge of the river in the foreground Luís Graner y Arrufí, Spanish (1863–1929) was a Catalan painter in the Realistic style. He was born in Barcelona, and studied at the Escola de la Llotja from 1883, with Antoni Caba (color/composition) and Benet Mercadé (drawing). During his final year at school, he received a grant to study in Madrid, where he copied and learned from the Old Masters at the Museo del Prado. After that, supported by a fellowship, he moved to Paris and became a member of the Academie des Beaux-Arts. Later, he returned to Barcelona, but continued to travel to cities throughout Europe, including Berlin, Munich and Düsseldorf. Influenced by Richard Wagner's concept of "Gesamtkunstwerk" (Total Work of Art), he was motivated to create his own total art experience and organized the "Sala Mercè" (Mercy Hall) in Barcelona's Rambla District. The project involved contributors from every artistic discipline, including the new field of cinematography. The room was decorated by Antoni Gaudí. Other participants included Adrià Gual, Santiago Rusiñol, Ramon Casas...Category

- "Boulevard of Paris", 20th Century oil on canvas by Spanish artist E. Grau SalaBy Emilio Grau SalaLocated in Madrid, ESEMILIO GRAU SALA Spanish, 1911 - 1975 BOULEVARD OF PARIS signed Grau Sala (lower right) oil on canvas 25-1/2 X 32 inches (65 X 81 cm.) framed: 36-1/4 X 42-1/2 inches (92 X 108 cm.) PROVENANCE Sale: Sotheby´s Olympia London, 20 October 2006 Emilio Grau Sala came from a family of artists. He was born in Barcelona in 1911 and his father, a good cartoonist, had been one of the promoters of the "Salon des Humanistes" and made his exhibitions normally in the Parés Hall. His first works were exhibited at the Salon des Independents, in the years 1930-33. Grau Sala was essentially a Mediterranean painter, son of post-impressionism and enriched with French painting of the last fifty years. In this work Grau Sala has a loose, subtle brushstroke, in which the color shapes the entire work. The bright and transparent whites that give life to young schoolgirls contrast with the brushstrokes of blacks from the nun who accompanies them. The explosion of greens is refreshing, it surrounds us and transports us to an idyllic place, even if it is a citizen boulevard, which becomes friendly and beautiful. His works can be found in the Museums of the Villa de Paris, L'Ile de France Museum, at the Château de Sceaux, Honfleur Museum, La Rochelle Museum, Barcelona Museum, Tossa de Mar...Category
