2022

About the Item

"Gerber Daisy" by Carl Grauer Contemporary Still Life Painting of Pink Flower Pot on Kitchen Window Sill Acrylic on Canvas in Custom Frame 40 x 30 inches, 42.5 x 32.5 x 2 inches framed in custom grey painted wooden frame Signed en verso In a new series titled Qu(i)e(t)er Interiors, Carl Grauer turns inward and brings us into an intimate space; his home. From a place of repose and safety, this environment provides warmth, comfort, and a stage to observe relationships among objects, beings, and the passage of light. His perspective tracks varied emotions, different points of view, and how the light is experienced by candlelight or sunlight reflected on walls and hardwood. “I found peace in observing the changes in light, and observing with slowness and mindfulness that comes during times of meditation.” Simple household objects are the subject of the rather complex compositions with layered perspectives. Grauer merges adept technical abilities with a penchant for authentic expression. Bright pink gerber daisies sprout from bushy green foliage in this contemporary still life painting by Carl Grauer. This work is a study of light and composition; Grauer expertly captures this bouquet soaking up the morning sunlight. Artist Bio: Carl Grauer is a painter based in Poughkeepsie, NY in the beautiful Hudson Valley. He primarily works in oil, painting mostly portraits and figure-based contemporary realistic paintings. Grauer merges adept technical abilities with a penchant for authentic expression. This painting recalls the Dutch masters with its composition and soft application of paint. Sunlight streams in through the bedroom window, raking across a bed made up with white cotton sheets, and pooling onto the brown hard wood floor. This work is intimate, tranquil and is exquisite in its technical rendering. Artist Bio: Carl Grauer is a painter based in Poughkeepsie, NY in the beautiful Hudson Valley. • Vase in the Window (Impressionist Floral Still Life Painting of Pink Peonies)
    By David Konigsberg

Vase in the Window (Impressionist Floral Still Life of Magenta Pink Peony Flowers in a Vase Against an Off-White Window Scene) by David Konigsberg oil on panel 50 x 36 x 1.5 inches no frame required - painting is wired on reverse for easy installation Signed by the artist, verso This painting is an exquisite example of the artist's unique ability to capture the very whimsical side of nature. Widely known for painting expansive views of the Hudson Valley where the artist often embarks on extensive hiking trails, Konigsberg also takes to painting more intimate and commonplace household objects. A coffee pot, salt and pepper shaker, or as in this case, a simple bouquet of long stemmed pink peonies careening over the side of a green vase; his use of oil washes capture both fluidity and structure. The fanciful treatment of the flowers calls to mind French Impressionist Toulouse Latrec...

  • Birches III: Contemporary Minimalist Painting of Slender Birches
    By Frank Faulkner
    Located in Hudson, NY
Birches III: Contemporary Minimalist Painting of Slender Birches by Frank Faulkner 60 x 48 inches, acrylic on canvas Vertical orientation The Birch Tree paintings are an elegant and sophisticated body of work painted by Frank Faulkner in 2010-2012. Several birch trucks intertwine; their white bark starkly illuminated against a dramatic, dark ground.against a dark ground. The Birch Tree is the symbol of new beginnings, regeneration, hope, new dawns and the promise of what is to come. The tree carries ancient wisdom and yet appears forever young. Born in Sumter, South Carolina in 1946, Frank Faulkner received his B.F.A. from the University of North Carolina in 1968, Phi Beta Kappa, and his M.F.A. from the same institution in 1972. Faulkner’s work quickly won him numerous grants and awards, including an individual artist grant from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1974. He was selected for the Whitney Biennial in 1975, which prompted him to settle in New York. There, he came to the attention of Dorothy Miller, Curator Emeritus of the Museum of Modern Art with a legendary eye for new talent. Since then, Faulkner has continued to garner acclaim and awards. He has been featured in dozens of one-person exhibitions (not to mention group exhibitions) in this country, as well as in Japan, Switzerland, and Germany. Faulkner’s work is owned by leading museums (the Smith College museum in Northampton, Massachusetts, for example, the National Museum of American Art and the Hirshhorn in Washington, D.C.) and by renowned collectors such as Nelson Rockefeller, Baron Leon Lambert, Phillip Hanes and Abba Eban...
