About the Item
A pleasant still life with coffee pot, bowls, and flowers in a vase by American artist Dines Carlsen (1901-1966). Son of Soren Emil Carlsen, Dines was born in New York, and studied with his father, beginning exhibits at age fifteen at the National Academy of Design and the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. He became a member of the National Academy of Design, and the Grand Central Art Galleries, with homes in Falls Village, Connecticut and Summerville, South Carolina. He became well known for not only his still life paintings, but his landscapes as well.
Oil on canvas, signed lower right, titled “Still Life” on verso gallery label, and housed in a gessoed gilt frame with linen lined insert. Dimensions: 22 in H x 18 in W, actual; 30.75 in H x 26.75 in W, framed.
