About the Item
Sunrise Moments, November 23, 2014, 7-40-12 a.m., Cypress Creek, TX is a landscape photograph by David H. Gibson. The photograph is printed using archival pigment inks and is signed and numbered.
In a world entrenched in societal division and ecological turmoil, it can be refreshing to step back and enjoy the quiet beauty of the natural world. Dallas photographer David H. Gibson has been exploring the beauty of the Southwestern landscape for more than 50 years, building a reputation as an astute interpreter of effervescent moisture and changing light. Morning Light: The Photographs of David H. Gibson take us to two of his favorite sites, Cypress Creek in Wimberely, Texas, and Eagle Nest Lake nestled in the mountains east of Taos, New Mexico.
This work draws attention to the artist’s repeated return to each site and his fascination with dawn’s break into day. In those mystical moments, he finds the essence of each spot. Through his photographs, Gibson coaxes us into getting up before dawn, stepping outside, and noticing the quick tempo of the early morning’s changing light.

- Atomic Overlook: 01, 2012By Clay LipskyLocated in Sante Fe, NMClay Lipsky's Atomic Overlook re-contextualizes a legacy of atomic bomb tests. In an attempt to keep a nuclear threat feeling contemporary and omnipresent, Lipsky introduces archival images of atomic explosions among casual scenes of vacationers. The surreal images speak to a voyeuristic culture where catastrophe is viewed as entertainment by increasingly desensitized masses. The iconic mushroom cloud in each image serves as metaphor for larger societal issues such as: global warming, nuclear power...Category

- Cloud No. 4604By Laurie TümerLocated in Sante Fe, NMI'D RATHER LOOK AT CLOUDS "…Here we go alone and like it better so...Now lying recumbent…this incessant making up of shapes and casting them down…this incessant ringing up and down of curtains of light and shade, this interminable experiment with gold shafts and blue shadows, with viewing the sun and unveiling it, with making rock ramparts and wafting them away – this endless activity…One should not let this gigantic cinema [of clouds] play perpetually to an empty house…" Virginia Woolf On Being Ill This series began from my bed photographing clouds tripping along the horizon of the Jemez Mountains of New Mexico, home to Los Alamos National Laboratory. I had just moved to my small studio perched high that I’d cobbled together over several years. My casual cloud gazing immediately became part of a pain-lessening arsenal - and how lucky for me living in an amphitheatre with an unexpected generous subject – a nearly 24-hour a day theater. The title of this series comes from an exchange with a friend about war...Category
