Street Photographer Mitchell Funk captures a frontal portrait of an older woman with an inventively outrageous look. Piercing blue circular eyeglasses and a handmade pointy hat reminiscent of 19th-century English illustrations of fairies are standout features of her uniqueness.
As a pioneer of color photography, Funk looks at color as if it were iconography. The color is the subject as much as the unexpectedly interesting subject.

Mitchell Funk participated in the first color photography show at any major American Museum. "Images en Couleur " Brooklyn Museum 1970. In the 1970's and 1980 he had more than 50 photography magazine covers. He did covers for Life Magazine and Fortune Magazine as well

Mitchell Funk
Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.
