Each edition is unique as it is intervened by the artist. Unframed. “The Family Tree” series is a deep study of the identity and symbolism of one’s roots. The drawings/prints are intervened by the artist with pencil and gold ink, The works incorporate her personal journey to motherhood through delicate imagery of the body and nature, and are all accompanied by handwritten Portuguese poems. These perceptively organic ensembles capture a visible story that transcends a woman’s humanity and her process during childbirth to the evolution of a family, all from the artist’s perspective.  The series reflects the palpable nostalgia of womanhood and the story of her family and her own turmoil of losing a child. Through form and symbolism, this body of work regards unconscious repetition, imitation, and survival. Work is also available framed at an additional cost. All sizes signed, titled, dated, and numbered on artist label verso. All Prices are quoted as "initial price". Please note that prices and availability may change due to current sales. ___________________________ Brazilian-born Visual Artist Magda von Hanau is no stranger to the camera, her successful modeling and television career in Europe set the stage for her true passion for fine art and photography. Untitled #8. 2020 by Ying Chen From the series "There is an Ocean in my glass" Archival pigment print Image size: 80 in. H x 60 in. W Edition of 5 + 1AP Unframed 2020 There Is An Ocean In My Glass I have a reoccurring dream: scenery consisting of cloud filled Sky, fields of grass, and a body of water. In this foggy but colorful dream, the sky is cloudy, yet everything is brightly lit. there is a thick fog blurring my vision I cannot discern whether it is imagined or familiar scenes. I wanted to capture in photos how small flower cuttings can inspire/trigger those dreamt memories of landscapes. By composing nature figures into a photo, I wanted to represent how flower cutting can channel those dreamscapes in a photo. Stitch-like lines were added to make a person question if what they are seeing is paper cutting collage, hoping to replicate a dream-like feel by making viewers question the photos. _____________ Ying Chen was born in Tokyo, Japan, to Chinese parents living in Japan. She grew up and spent her early childhood in Japan until the age of seven, then spent her youth in China. Now Chen has graduated from SCAD with her bachelor's degree and is currently enrolled in the SCAD graduate photo department. Since 2018, her focus has been on photo collages.
