About the Item

Series 156: 081 Degas en Jaquette, se dessinant lui-même, en Habit, chez les Filles Etching, 1971 Signed with studio stamp signature lower right (see photo) Edition: 50 (16/50) This etching depicts Picasso (lower left. see photo) and Degas (on the right, see photo) enjoying the girls. Quite a phantasy for the 90 year old Picasso. Executed shortly before his death, the etchings in Picasso's Series 156 are considered his last great outpouring, an intensely personal exploration of the relationships between artist and model. In the last 5 years of his life, Picasso revisited early themes of his creativity. He felt a kinship with Degas and depicted both of them together in several images.
