1970

About the Item

Despite its geographic isolation, the island of Cuba has produced more graphic material in support of oppressed peoples around the world than any other nation. This poster supports Vietnam in its war against American imperialism. International Vietnam Solidarity Week. The posters published by the Organization of Solidarity with the Peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America (OSPAAAL) are a new expression of revolutionary art. They were created as a result of an agreement reached at the first tricontinental conference held in Havana in 1966, in response to the U.S. invasion of the Dominican Republic a year earlier. From the beginning, it was an international project, since representatives from 82 countries participated in this first conference under the following rallying cry: "This great humanity has had enough and needs the help of the international community": "This great humanity has had enough and has started to move".
