Obey Holiday 2016. 18 x 24 inches. Screen Print. Signed by Shepard Fairey. Edition of 575.
"I make a holiday print every year as a gift for friends and supporters, which is usually a different color way of an image with a positive theme that I created at some point during that year. This year, however, I decided to create a new image for the holiday print and release a portion of the edition to the public. 175 of the 575 edition will be available… I know, I can’t believe I have 400 friends and supporters either! As always, thank you for your support. Remember that it’s better to give than to receive... Try to pick up this print as something meaningful for yourself or someone else. Cheers!" – Shepard
Shepard Fairey is a major influencer in the street art movement along side Banksy, Mr. Brainwash, and others. He has gained notoriety as a graphic artist, muralist, and an expert in mixed media. He was born on February 15, 1970 and is now based in Los Angeles, California. Fairey grew up in the skateboarding and punk rock culture, and may also be most well known for his 2008 "Hope" poster of then U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Expanding on the legacies of artists such as Keith Haring and Andy Warhol, Shepard Fairey’s practice disrupts the distinction between fine and commercial art.
A major artist of the street art movement, Fairey rose to prominence in the early 1990s through the dispersion of prints, posters, stickers and murals, related to his Obey Giant campaign, which yielded an international cultural phenomenon. Fairey’s iconic poster of President Barack Obama was adopted as the official emblem associated with the presidential campaign and encapsulates a number of recurring concerns in the artist’s work, including propaganda, portraiture and political power.
