About the Item
This stylized landscape immediately catches attention from 360 degrees around. The bold blues, greens, browns and touches of warm colors too bring attention to the bustling summer life of the frogs, butterflies, etc. The soft white background of the sky plays with the negative space of the porcelain itself. The glaze paints are so bold it looks as if there is an applied texture to the smooth, soft white porcelain that peaks through the scene. There is both an energy of the piece through all the movement of the natural life at play, but this is offset by a serene peacefulness of the landscape's cool tones and hues. The Abundant Swamp is a great artwork done in FitzGerald's signature style of glaze paint that will bring an energy and bold earth tones to any interior.

Jared Fitzgerald
Jared FitzGerald was born in Seattle, Washington, and studied painting and classical archaeology at the University of Washington. The son of celebrated American artists James FitzGerald and Margaret Tomkins, he developed a passion for art at an early age. He traveled extensively as a still and motion picture photographer while serving in the United States Air Force during which he developed a lifelong fascination with tribal arts and anthropomorphic imagery. Producing works in a variety of media, from classical ink painting to glazed ceramics, FitzGerald has developed a style of intuitive painting centering on playfully naturalistic forms and abstracted figures. Since 2007, he has maintained full-time studios in Beijing, New York and Jingdezhen. He has directed two galleries, Fitzgerald Fine Arts and Kai Gallery in SoHo, and South Hampton, New York, focused on presenting the most innovative works of contemporary Chinese and European ceramics. FitzGerald’s work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions throughout the U.S., Europe, and Asia. His work has also been featured in the permanent collections at the National Art Museum of China, the Meridian Center in Washington D.C. and the Seattle Art Museum. He is a member of the American Research Association of Eastern and Western Arts, the China Contemporary Art Association, and the China Research Institute of Contemporary Art.

- AquaBy Jared FitzgeraldLocated in Southampton, NY“Aqua” is a unique over-glaze Chinese porcelain pot by renowned ceramist and painter, Jared FitzGerald. Fish and sea creatures travel around the pot. The thin layers of color gives the design an open and delicate feeling. “Aqua” is part of a new series from Fitzgerald’s studios in Jingdezhen, China. This series uses over-glaze, a new ceramic firing technique that diverges from Fitzgerald’s previous ceramic practice, which used the traditional under-glaze technique with blue and white colors. Over-glaze allows FitzGerald to paint with a range of colors; unlike with other glaze techniques, such as under- or middle-glaze, over-glaze allows FitzGerald to paint onto an already fired ceramic panel, so there is no serious change in the color of the pigments. This is a special technique which allows the artist to mix Chinese painting techniques with western techniques derived from oil painting. Over-glaze decoration is considered one of the most important modern glaze techniques in Jingdezhen now. The traditional overglaze decorative colors in Jingdezhen include Gucai (antique colors...Category

- Sky Series #7By Jason MiddlebrookLocated in Denver, COHudson, NY - based artist Jason Middlebrook. Middlebrook takes inspiration from lived experience and the natural world with his signature hardwood paintings. Familiar yet enigmatic, the sky in its various forms serves as muse in "Skies." Never the same twice, the sky is ever-changing, differing dramatically from place to place and throughout each day. At times seemingly benevolent and at others cruel, the vast sky is in constant diaphanous conversation with the landscape and activity below.
