2000s

About the Item

Body of woman is an original sculpture realized by Fabrizio Savi in the 2000s. Two bodies emerge from the plaster material across each other in an upward thrust. Lacquered plaster. 38X11 cm with wooden base included. Signature engraved on the plaster base. Good conditions. Fabrizio Savi ( 1973), lives in San Severino Marche, where his private studio-atelier is located. He measures himself very young with sculpture, dealing with themes of social protest. It will be the years of the Academy of Fine Arts in Macerata, in which he will deepen sculpture and where he will face the new languages of computer art and the new alphabet linked to the beginnings of technology. In 1986 he will participate in the Fourth Review of the Electronic Art Festival of Camerino with the interactive work Halley, in those years the most important and complete review of electronic arts in Europe. He experiments with Design, his other passion, obtaining considerable results and filing two patents, continuing in parallel, new series of sculptures. In the 2000s, he designs the sculptural groups called Evanescent lights in the limelight are made in different sizes and materials, a true immersion and deepening of the theatrical concept. The following year he designs a multimedia system in which sounds, music, lights and design interact. He is currently carrying on the research begun in the 1980s, in which he brought together sounds, music and digital art, and in recent years he has been producing design-sculptures accompanied by luminous support.

'I am a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on ecofeminism using fiber and mixed media constructions. My materials include hand-dyed commercially fished line and ghost gear, recycled and antique textiles, fabric printed with cyanotype emulsions and found objects. I change the existing surface of recognizable animals by creating a veneer of unexpected color and imagery. This forces the viewer to consider the shape more carefully by visually exploring its new topography. The creation process can be likened to painting with fiber (that has been tinted with hand-mixed dyes) on a three-dimensional canvas. Intense work is spent creating the eyes and ears to convey the emotion of each animal. I look to the work of Joan Mitchell and The Quilters of Gee’s Bend as inspiration for pattern and color, as well as charts, iconography, and satellite imaging.' -Gin Stone...
