Polychrome Carved Mexican Sculpture -- Child Jesus

Circa 18 century

About the Item

This is a hand-carved wood polychromed sculpture of the Infant Jesus. A baroque figure probably from the 18th century, this religious figure was obtained in Mexico. It appears to have been part of a larger retablo. The sculpture has a spectacular face and clearly shows traces of the paint used when created.
