A French 18 karat (18K) yellow gold, diamond and ruby love charm pendant with a rebus spelling out "Plus qu'hier, moins que demain" ("More than yesterday, less than tomorrow") - a line taken from the love poem written by Rosemonde Gerard to her husband (the author of Cyrano) in 1889. Augis "Love Medal", "Médaille d'Amour" 18 ct gold pendant. The phrase "+ Qu'hier - Que Demain" is beautifully engraved on this pendant, bringing the message of Love. Let You to know some history behind. The Love Medal was born in 1907, in the Lyon workshops of the A.Augis House. Its creator Alphonse Augis, grandson of the founder of the House, then had the idea of transcribing the verses of a famous poem by Mrs. Rosemonde Rostand entitled "The Old Ones" dating from 1889, a true declaration of love to her husband Edmond Rostand. "Because you see every day I love you more, today more than yesterday and much less than tomorrow." The drawing varies, but usually includes a quote from a poem with "more than" and "less than" represented by plus and minus signs, often decorated with precious stones, traditionally rubies. This pendant dates the period of 1910 - 1930 years that is considered the most collectable period of Augis medals. They stay not much so every piece found is really unique one.
