Green Desk Lamp by Helo Leuchten Germany, 1950s
By Helo Leuchten
Located in Schwerin, MV
Helo table lamp in its original, unpolished condition, a timeless classic from the 1950s. Stylistically, the design of the lamp is based on the Bauhaus period. The lampshade can be adjusted in many ways using a ball joint. The solid lamp is made entirely of brass and partially painted green. The inside of the shade was creamy white, but had clearly suffered, see photo. The contrast between the green surfaces and the brass parts gives the lamp a noble calm. The desk lamp provides a bright, pleasantly glare-free light thanks to the curved shade and is very solidly manufactured. The design of the round, curved base with the switch is adapted to the shade: profiled brass strips on the edge, the green paint on the inside and the slightly curved brass button in the center, which can be used to release the base. The umbrella is rotated via a ball joint and does not need to be locked, it stays in any position. The ball joint has two screws that can be used to loosen or tighten the joint. There is another adjustment option on the foot: The brass arm can be easily tilted forwards or backwards; there is an elongated opening in the foot for this purpose. This lamp was available in two sizes, the larger version is offered. The lamp is in good vintage condition with visible signs of aging: the paint is largely in good condition but a bit dull, the brass parts are tarnished, the felt under the base is rubbed off. Height approx. 35 cm Foot 17 cm Diameter of shade 31 cm Brass socket E 27 Weight approx. 2000 g Cable approx. 180 cm Here are some infos to the HELO Company: HELO lights...

Series02 Table Lamp, "Smoke" Patinated Brass, Stitched Goatskin Parchment Shade
By Adam Otlewski
Located in Ozone Park, NY
Solid machined brass in "Smoke" acid patinated finish, hand-stitched goatskin parchment shade, with hand-dyed braided cotton cord. All material finishes are living finishes: they will change and patina for the better with time and use. Shades are made from genuine goatskin parchment, hand-selected for each lamp for its natural texture, pattern and color. Reminiscent of the lunar surface, its superior quality of light is unlike paper of any kind. Variations in pattern and texture are the be expected as each skin is unique. Shade construction is unlined, utilizing a single layer of parchment for optimal light transmission and may have a slight bow or curvature of the surface. This is a natural characteristic of the grain of the animal hide as well as the hand stretching and tanning process. Base is lathe turned from a heavy solid ingot...
