1950s Harrods Navy Double Breasted Dress
About the Item
This dress is the epitome of elegance. Designed for iconic London department store Harrods in the late 1950s, it gives the illusion of a two-piece suit made up of a double-breasted jacket and skirt but is, in fact, a midi-dress. The wide neckline and sweeping bertha collar combine to reveal the décolletage. Slim-cut three quarter-length cropped sleeves and a nipped-in waist highlight the feminine form. Made from faux silk and of panelled construction, the double-breasted front is sewn shut and finished with eight cloth-covered buttons. A concealed zip in tonal navy secures the rear and encompasses the length of the jacket and waist section of the skirt. The full, tulle-lined skirt is attached to the underside of the jacket lining and falls to the mid-calf, fluttering around the wearer’s legs as they walk. This graceful piece is in wonderful vintage condition with no issues noted. A best fit for up to a size UK 10 or US 6.
