WWII US Navy Military-Issue Kersey Wool Pea Coat - US 36-38 / Men's Small, 1940s
About the Item
Like its cousin the trench coat, the pea coat enjoys military origins but its style and practicality have made it a civilian wardrobe staple. Slimmer in cut than its modern counterparts, this WWII version is also made of rare 32 oz Kersey wool, the heaviest and most impenetrable to the elements, and features mid-brown corduroy lined pockets.
US Navy issue pea coat featuring double breasted construction, 10 fouled anchor buttons and storm flap under collar. Corduroy-lined front slash pockets, plus interior right breast pocket and left change pocket; rear center vent. Fully lined in acetate; padded armscyes. Issued to “J B Hopkins.”
