20th Century Antique Chinese Qing Era Porcelain Foo Dogs
About the Item
This pair of magnificent Chinese antique Porcelain lions/foo dogs statuary are hand made and hand carved porcelain. According to historical books, lions were introduced into Mainland China firstly as tributes to the Emperors. They are symbols of justice in bureaucratic officialdom and loyal guards in front of Emperors or Princes' palaces. They also are the Guardians of Fa (law) in Buddhist realm and stay in front of the temples. There lied people's fear, admiration, expectation and trust. Therefore, people also call them "Foo Dog" means bring you peace and lucky. This beautiful Large pair of unique Foo Dogs are hand made from Porcelain which is very rare. From the pictures, you can see there are some age wears including color fading, etc but in very good antique condition. They are very big in size and very detailed in carving. Full of patina. You will never find the same beauty in the world.
