About the Item

Chinese Ming Dynasty 1368 - 1644 Martaban Jar . Dates to the early Ming period . High neck and wide shoulders , brown slip glaze , unglazed base , loop-handles. rolled lipped rim typical of Chinese ware . Please see book "Tempayan.Martavans" items 14 and 14a.) for additional information These Jars were important trade items in Southeast Asia during the 11th - 16th century . The Jar carries an intriguing series of surface marks and Imperfections created while the clay was in the kiln . Very good antique condition . age related chips to be expected . 27cm x 27cm
