Drexel “Casa Del Sol” Table Bench by John Van Koert Vintage, 1950s

About the Item

Designed by John Van Koert for his Casa del Sol Collection and produced by Drexel Furniture in the 1950s. This "Table/Bench" as it is referred to on the makers mark, could be used equivocally as a coffee table or a bench. The figurative design on the metal legs, contrasted with the beautiful wood grain enrich the statement of this piece wherever you choose to place it. The smooth and subtle curved ends blend exceptionally well with the clean horizontal lines, appealing to a modernist or mid-century modern enthusiast. The outstanding craftsmanship of Drexel furniture in the 50's speaks for itself. The minimal wear to the surface is very appropriate for a piece of this age, with some superficial scratches on the top and sides. Duality of purpose and streamline design makes this more current than ever.
