Rare Antique Gothic Revival Gilt Bronze Wall Cartel Clock with Griffin Sculpture

About the Item

Stunning and perfect running Gothic architectural design bronze wall clock, from circa 1880. If you like rare antiques in general and one of a kind clocks in particular then this handcrafted specimen for wall mounting could be the perfect addition to your collection or Gothic (inspired) interior. This fine quality antique clock comes with a marvelous, winged, Gothic Griffin sculpture atop the cathedral-like roof and that is what immediately caught our attention. On the one hand, because it is what makes this Gothic antique stand out from the average and on the other, because Griffins particularly make any antique more desirable, because of their symbolic meaning. Griffins were commonly featured in medieval heraldry and mythology, representing the duality of power and intelligence. The statue, therefore, reflects the artistic and symbolic elements of this historical period. And it does not stop there, because inside of this stylish antique is a perfect working, brass, eight day clock mechanism. And so, many specialists in the late 1800s together have created this incredibly stylish wall clock. And for it to be in this good of a condition and still running almost perfectly on time after more than a hundred years is like an ode to the dedication and skills of all the people who worked to create this amazing antique. It will look great in a living room, but it will also look particularly well in a private library or home office. And only when you truly understand how many difficult and time consuming techniques it took to create this antique work-of-time-telling-art, will you be able to really appreciate its beauty, its rarity, its quality and its durability. Mind you, our fair price for this rare and pure Gothic antique wall clock includes perfect packing and also worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 workdays. Maximum height x width x depth: 26.5 x 11.7 x 4.5 inches. Weight: 20 pounds. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again).
