Red Chalice on Black Tripod Legs, Hand Built Ceramic Stoneware
About the Item
This Red Ceramic Chalice is a modern take on an ancient idea, designed and hand built by the artist, Helena Starcevic. It has a glossy red glaze over a dark clay body which shows through and adds depth to the glaze. The tripod legs have a matte black glaze. The chalice cup has a wave rim, revealing the individuality and uniqueness from the Artist's hand-work. You could drink from the shallow bowl like a goblet or you could float a single flower. Mostly, an object of contemplation and conversation.
Fully hand-formed, fired twice.
Signed with artist's signature chop at bottom.

Helena Starcevic Ceramics
Helena Starcevic Ceramics produces work that straddles the line between fine and decorative art. Each piece is one of a kind, hand-built entirely by the artist in her New York studio. Taking inspiration from the natural world, Ms. Starcevic's work includes references to the stark beauty of the desert, prehistoric cave paintings, and the human form (within and without). Everything is filtered through Ms. Starcevic’s own singular aesthetic, at once quiet yet strong, meditative, and beautiful. Pieces are made in different clays and finishes, and at different scales. Groupings are available. Helena Starcevic’s ceramic pieces are held in private collections across the US and Europe. She has held numerous residencies including one at the Museum of Art and Design in New York City.
