Green Carafe and glasses. Inspired by Traditional Ceramic Carafes.
About the Item
Our carafe colection is a tribute to the traditional pitchers of the regions of Tonala´ and Tlaquepaque in Jalisco, these two regions developed during the period of the conquest as pottery centers.
Originally these bottles were used to store water in addition to keeping it a few degrees below room temperature, their low temperature cooking allows the jug to breathe water and this in contact with the outside air cools the jug and therefore the liquid inside.
To avoid moisture stains on the surfaces where the jug is placed, a plate is placed. The jugs were usually decorated with paintings around the body of the bottle, the most common are lines that border the circumference. In general, a glass of the same material will also serve as a lid to avoid insects inside the bottle.
In memory of the traditional carafe, we preserve the general shape, spherical with a short neck, the decoration is concentrated in color and a horizontal line that borders the sphere, simulating the lines painted in the traditional version and in turn uniting the IDEA of the plate. In which the plate was used to avoid stains, this line is revealed to the touch and the lighting that the object receives, creating a game of volumes that reinforces the piece with stability.
This object that until recently could be seen commonly in the kitchens of the houses in the center of Guadalajara is an element that recalls the warm climate and the artisan work of the region. For the world wide contemporary kitchens.

- Black Glazed Ceramic Pitcher with Green Glints by Jean Girel, French CeramistBy Jean GirelLocated in Camblanes et Meynac, FRBlack glazed ceramic pitcher with green glints by Jean Girel, French ceramist This is a very beautiful ceramic pitcher. The shape of the jug and the handle remind us of the shapes of popular pottery works, while the very refined work of the enamel shows the great mastery of the ceramist Jean Girel. The glaze is a deep black illuminated by green glints. It is an object which is at the same time rough and elegant, it emanates strength and softness. Very sober, it can be integrated in any type of interior, particularly of wabi-sabi inspiration. The signature "Jean Girel" is below the base. Jean Girel is one of the most famous french ceramist art masters of the 21st Century. Inspired by the chinese Song ceramics...Category
