About the Item
A wonderful, whimsical work by Japanese American, California architectural potter or artist Kazuko Matthews.
The vase is signed on the base (partly under the museum putty or wax used to hold it in place).
Mathews previously studied with famed ceramists couple Otto and Vivia Heino at Chouinard and also with Raku master potter Paul Soldner at Scripps College. Her work can be found in numerous collections and museums including:

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. In good vintage condition, no cracks or chips. There is a small, tiny external substance stuck to the front (perhaps in the making. Likely removable but we have left as is) and a small amount of wear to the lower backside (please see photos).

- Otto Heino Signed Imperial Chinese Yellow Glaze Vase VesselBy Otto HeinoLocated in Studio City, CAA wonderful example of Otto Heino's famous Chinese Imperial yellow glaze - thought to have been lost for years and rediscovered by Heino. A very rare and highly coveted glaze and textured shape. Sure to brings years of aesthetic pleasure. This piece has a great feel and heft to it. A fantastic work by all accounts. Signed and dated (2002) by Heino on the base. Would make for a fantastic addition to any modern ceramics and pottery collection or an eye-catching Stand-alone work in about any setting.
