K-OVER Champagne, PORTE DEL PARADISO, silver 999/°°, Italy
About the Item
THE GATES OF HEAVEN :
Our K-OVERs, are alternatives to the champagne bucket and the more common glacette. The precious metal that holds the bottle is coated internally with a thermal fabric that maintains the temperature of your champagne for about 2 hours. The works are entirely handmade by master goldsmiths. The processing techniques used are chiseling, engraving, and gilding. This K-Over is part of the "Works of Art" collection. Lorenzo Foglia draws inspiration from the famous doors of Florence's baptistery made by Lorenzo Ghiberti. Legend has it that, because of the splendor of the gilded bronze and the beauty of the reliefs, Michelangelo had renamed them the Gates of Paradise. Some of the door tiles inspired by the Old Testament are reproduced on the surface of the K-over. The artist works and carves a metal cylinder from the inside making using a Renaissance technique called "of the hunt out." Needless to say, this process is very difficult and requires a lot of time and especially uncommon skill. All this makes our champagne K-overs the ideal gift to give to those who already own everything; by offering your closest friends or relatives a K-over you will make a valuable and lasting gift.
A special display case is provided along with the K-over.
Master goldsmith:
Lorenzo Foglia was born in Viareggio in 1971. From a young age, he worked in the family goldsmith workshop with his father and grandfather, studied the art of metalworking, and learned the techniques of embossing and chiseling. During his career he created furniture and jewelry for the Royal Houses of Europe, theater, and film. He has twice won the international competition "Art in a jewel," sponsored by Florence Gift Mart. He is President of the Goldsmiths of the City of Florence and is a Master Craftsman recognized by the Region of Tuscany, OMA Craftsman and Master of Art and Craft for the Cologni Foundation in Milan.
