Goldscheider Art Déco Group 'Revue', the 'Dolly Sisters', by Stephan Dakon, 1927
About the Item
Remarkable and rare Goldscheider Art Deco Figurine Group of the later 1920s:
Two posing young revue twin dancers with pageboy hairstyles, performing a step forward in parallel, at the same time raising the bellflower-shaped hem of their short green dresses with blue fur collars with both hands. On a beige, diamond-shaped base with shading on the sides, artist's signature 'Dakon' on the top of the base at the back.
This group also exists as a single figure, and there is also a group of four, an extremely rare and elaborate version by the Goldscheider company as a special creation.
The 'Dolly Sisters' Rosie Dolly (1892 - 1970) and Jenny Dolly (1892 - 1941), known as The Dolly Sisters, were Hungarian-born American identical twin dancers, singers and actresses who achieved great popularity in vaudeville and theater in the 1910s and 1920s. Both sisters also appeared in two silent films.
Signed STEPHAN DAKON (1904 - 1992), one of the most important designers who worked for the Goldscheider manufactory from 1924 until the mid-fifties.
