Rococo Inspired Hand Painted Platter
About the Item
Ideal for hanging on the wall to decorate a dining room or bathroom, this painstakingly hand painted in London, this richly decorative piece is inspired by Rococo dreamscapes. With elements taken from Alchemical symbolism and Victorian sewing patterns, the piece is an idiosyncratic example of Josephine’s eclectic style.
The painting technique is from Limoges in France, where the artist was taught this technique, it has been applied with her unique style to create pieces using a fine nib pen and squirrel hair paintbrush. The use of colour harks back to delft and chinoiserie styles and is beautifully juxtaposed with its eclectic references.
The bowl itself is crafted in Este, a northern Italian institution producing fine ceramic pieces since the 16th century. It is lightweight Italian clay its sheer glaze results in a delicate and refined base for a richly decorative design.
Please note there is a small chip on the bottom left (non structural) from a small knock at the studio (I’m devastated!)
