19th Century French Faïence Pays Rustique Provençal Oyster Plate, B

A French faïence rustic Provençal oyster plate, maker unknown, circa 1880. A central sauce well modeled as a lemon, surrounded by six gray scallop shell shaped wells. Detailed mold work and lovely soft water-color style glazing, in the Palissy style. Marked with an impressed mold number – 693 Book reference – Oyster Plates, Jeffrey Snyder pg.131 Measures: 8.75 in. diameter x 1 in. height A faint stable hair line running from the rim, the expected light wear typical of faïence.
