Bowl : Ogee - engraved with a basket of flowers atop of which sits a bird, opposite is a bird in flight with a sprig in its beak.
Stem : Double series opaque twist - a pair of spiral threads outwith a spiral gauze
Foot : Conical
Pontil : Snapped
Glass Type : Lead
Size : 14.8cm height, 5.5cm diameter bowl, 7.5cm diameter foot
Condition : Excellent, no chips or cracks - the foot is slighly uneven and the glass rocks a little on a flat surface
Restoration : None
Weight: 131 grams
References : Flowers and birds in flight comprise an opportunity for flights of fancy about sedition and support for lost causes. As with many engravings this has been copied from a book of designs Devises et Emblemes Ancienne et Modernes, one of many such tomes produced for engravers and porcelain decorators.
