George Clews Tunstall Pair Chameleon Ware Art Deco Persian Pottery Jugs
About the Item
A very stylish pair Art Deco George Clews & Co, Tunstall, Chameleon Ware reproduction of Persian Art handled pottery jugs dating from around 1930. The jugs stand on a rounded base and have a slightly compressed rounded shape body with a narrow short neck and pinched pouring spout. A small handle is applied to the upper body and neck. The jugs are decorated with raised scrolling panels to eight side with relief molded designs in typical Persian style and a further abstract floral panel is painted to the front of the jug with the colored decoration set against a mottled orange ground. Similar decoration is painted around the top and to the handle. The jugs have printed makers marks to the base and are molded REPRODUCTION OF PERSIAN ART around the rim of the base and are numbered 102/125.
