Spode Antique Printed and Over-Painted Cabinet Plate Dated 1914

About the Item

A good quality antique English Spode porcelain cabinet plate decorated with a chinoiserie landscape of two exotic birds perched on a flowering prunus tree dated 1914. The small sized plate, probably a side plate, is printed on a blue ground with a brown painted rim and is over painted in colored enamels with the central scene to two exotic birds in a landscape set within a simple yellow border with three further similar flowering shrubs around the rim of the plate. The plate has a green printed Spode mark to the base along with a Soane & Smith, Oxford Street, London retailers mark and also has impressed T 14 marks dating the plate to 1914. A very nice example in good condition.
