Antique Sterling Silver Queen's Pattern Gravy Spoons
About the Item
An exceptional, fine and impressive, pair of antique William IV English sterling silver Queen's pattern gravy spoons; an addition to our silver flatware collection.
This exceptional pair of antique silver spoons, in sterling standard, has been crafted in the Queen's pattern.
The anterior and posterior surfaces of the handle are embellished with the Classic Queen's pattern ornamentation, includes a convex shell design to either side of the terminal, in addition to the honeysuckle and rosette design*.
The anterior surface of one handle terminal is ornamented with the contemporary bright cut engraved crest of an antemlope's head, erased.
Each William IV spoon has an impressive anthemion/honeysuckle heel to the reverse of the bowl.
* This pattern is most commonly acknowledged/referred to as Queen's pattern, however in the Chawner & Co. Pattern Book bears the name 'Rosette'.
Condition
These antique spoons are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The pattern ornamentation is all very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of each handle are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

William Bateman II, the great-grandson of the famed Hester Bateman, is considered the last of the dynasty of Bateman silversmiths. Though his creations differ stylistically from those of his 18th-century ancestors, the incredible, high-caliber workmanship and outstanding skill that serve as the foundation of the Bateman oeuvre are ever-present within Bateman II’s silver.
