French antique sterling silver dessert flatware - 24 pieces - Louis XVI style

About the Item

French antique sterling silver dessert flatware for 12 guests, 24 pieces composed of 12 dessert spoons and 12 dessert forks. Very elegant late 19th century production, high-end quality set with perfect proportions, rich and much refined Louis XVI style decorations : finely chiseled laurels, ribbons, roses, musical instruments trophees ; subtle matt finish on the handles. There is no monogram or coat of arms engraved. Each piece has French hallmark Minerva 1st standard (.950 purity sterling silver at that time) and Paul Canaux mark stamped. Paul Canaux was a Parisian silversmith, famous and successful during late 19th century and early 20th century, active between 1892 and 1911. His production was refined, quite often high-range silverware, just like our dessert set. In excellent condition, consistent with age and use. Net silver weight : 1244g (also an indicator of the set's quality level - a 12-people silver dessert set does not normally exceed 1.2kg) Length : 18,5cm
