About the Item
Pair of Exquisite English Victorian Sterling Neoclassical Column Candlesticks
London, 1884-1885, Hallmarks for John Aldwinckle & Thomas Slater
A fine pair of English Victorian sterling silver neoclassical column candlesticks, crafted by John Aldwinckle & Thomas Slater, are a remarkable example of the exquisite craftsmanship of the era. Produced in London, England, between 1884 and 1885, these candlesticks feature intricate detailing and elegant design elements.
Each candlestick consists of a twisted wrapped faux bamboo column, which adds a touch of whimsy and uniqueness to the overall design. The candlesticks are further adorned with gadrooned bobeches, which are removable and feature hallmarks indicating their authenticity.
The candlesticks are supported by tapering square bases, embellished with neoclassical urns and oval vignettes. The oval vignettes are left blank, providing an opportunity for personalization with a monogram if desired.
To ensure their authenticity and origin, both candlesticks are fully hallmarked for London, England, with the hallmarks of John Aldwinckle & Thomas Slater. These hallmarks authenticate the silver content and confirm the year of production.
Please note that the listing does not include the beeswax candles shown, as they are solely for display purposes.
Overall, this pair of English Victorian sterling neoclassical column candlesticks represents a fine example of the craftsmanship and design aesthetic of the era, making them a highly desirable addition to any collection or a beautiful centerpiece for any room.
* The beeswax candles shown in the listing are for display only and are not included .
