Scottish Victorian Sterling Silver Salver, Marshall & Sons
About the Item
An early Victorian Scottish sterling silver salver. The salver is of circular form, with scroll and foliate cast rim, chased and engraved with scrolls, the centre engraved with foliage and flowerheads leading to a blank cartouche, raised on three scroll feet.
The hallmarks are located to the reverse with the makers mark 'M&S' (Marshall & Sons), Edinburgh assay mark, and date letter 'D' for 1845.
Assay: - .925 (Sterling Silver).
Period: - 1845.
Engraving: - Foliate scroll decoration.
Maker: - Marshall & Sons.
Measurement: - 15.8cm (diameter) x 2.6cm (height).
Weight: - 207.2 grams.
Condition: - The salver is in good antique condition. Light surface scratches and marks associated with a piece of this age. There are no dents, splits, or repairs to the salver. The engraving is crisp. Please see photos for confirmation of condition.
