Bae-Chae series is a hand-painted light that subtly embrace a traditional painting method.
The series draws inspiration from the ancient Korean portrait technique ‘Bae-Chae,' which pigments on the back of a sheet to show through the front, creating depth portrayal and metaphorically revealing essence.
Combining the traditional technique with contemporary design, each piece is initiated by documenting daily inspiration through colors. Through a thoughtful exploration and layering of selected hues, the collection slowly achieves the desired tones, creating an atmospheric colored illumination.
This intuitive and intimate expression offers an ambient evocation, hoping to illuminate both physical space and inner essence.
This Atelier Jun's series was debuted on Virtual Dutch Design week 2020 when the era of covid-19 pandemic, and selected as a brave new talents.

Atelier Jun, founded by Jun- Jungeun Hong, is rooted in Seoul.
Growing up in a creatively shared environment with artist family,
Jun developed a deep sensitivity to her surroundings and an innate drive
for creativity. Today, her work is a resonance of her life experiences
and the inspiration she has received from the world around her.
After studying Fine Art and Interior Architecture in Seoul and London,
Jun explored the creation of collectible art pieces and deepened her involvement in interior architecture. Her professional journey took her from London to New York and back to Seoul. Over the years, her work has evolved to become a true reflection of her thoughts, inspirations, and emotions, strengthening her connection to her craft.

The selection of Hanji reflects its traditional context and biodegradable characteristics. Additional elements include inner light fixture components such as a metal frame, LED strips, and an acrylic sheet, which serve both to diffuse the light and provide protection.
