Gio Ponti Mirror

About the Item

Original mirror by Gio Ponti with bronze frame and solid wood back. Giovanni Ponti, better known as Gio Ponti (Milan, 18 November 1891 - idem, 16 September 1979) was one of the most important Italian architects, industrial designers, artists and publicists of the 20th century. He graduated in architecture at the Regio Istituto Tecnico Superiore di Milano (now Politecnico di Milano) and in 1921 opened a studio with Mino Fiocchi and Emilio Lancia. He made his debut as a designer in 1923, taking part in the Monza Biennale of Decorative Arts. Endowed with great vitality and imagination, he turned his attention not only to architecture, but also to the design of furniture, accessories, machinery, lamps, textiles, ceramics, glass objects, tableware, exhibitions and theatrical productions.
