1927 The Sun Also Rises

About the Item

A smart early edition of one of Ernest Hemingway's best known novels, a brilliant leather bound example of the great American novel. An early printing, published the year following the first, with 'stopped' spelt correctly to page 181 line 26, 'down-staris' to page 169 line 34, and 'BOOK THREE' to page 235, rather than 'Book III'. A popular work, this went through three printings in 1926, and an additional four printings in 1927, two each in January and February, and one printing in March. The printings were stated to the spine of the dust wrapper, not seen in this smartly rebound copy. Smartly rebound in a half morocco binding, with the original cloth boards restored. 'The Sun Also Rises' is one of the best known novels of Ernest Hemingway. The tale follows a group of American and British expatriates as they travel from Paris to Spain in the 1920s. This enduringly popular novel remains in print today. Rebound in a half morocco binding with the original cloth boards restored. Externally, very smart. Label to the front board is very lightly rubbed with one very small chip. A couple of small marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned, as is usual to see, and clean. By Ernest Hemingway
    Located in Bath, GB
A finely bound copy of this lesser known satirical novel by great American author Ernest Hemingway, the second edition. The second edition of this work, which was first published in 1926. Smartly rebound in a half morocco binding with marbled paper to the boards. A lesser known work of Ernest Hemingway, this novella was written as a parody of 'Dark Laughter' by Sherwood Anderson. Hemingway takes a satirical look at pretentious writers in this novel and in its publication. He wrote it in only ten days, and received a mixed reaction when first published, partly as it was published in the same year as 'The Sun Also Rises...
