Royal House Antiques Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this important handmade made in England circa 1820 George IV hand carved mahogany & leather Cockfighting armchair with reading slope attributed to Morgan and Saunders Please note the delivery fee listed is just a guide, it covers within the M25 only for the UK and local Europe only for international, if you would like an accurate quote please send me your postcode and I’ll provide you with the exact price This really is an exquisite armchair, it is pure art furniture from every angle, the design originates from the 18th century, they are documented as being use in cockfights as you could sit backwards on the chair and have a fully body arm rest which you could use to write on and so forth, this of course was the original intended function which was for study The chair retains the original castors which look to be stamped Baron Beddington Patant under King George's crown which means they had the Royal Warrant Condition wise, the chair has been lightly restored to include a deep clean, hand condition wax and hand polish, its an original patina chair meaning all the period charm has been left in, one of the small side drawers is missing, otherwise and the handle of the other drawer is also missing, otherwise its in perfect antique condition Dimensions Height:- 78cm Width:- 76.5cm Depth:- 65cm, depth when the writing slope is open 108cm Seat height:- 55cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask Any questions please feel free to ask before you bid Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
