Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin Chrome Case Tufted Sofa This vintage Chrome Tufted Sofa by Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin is a true statement piece. Designed in the 1970s, this sofa has modern rolled arms and back, with hand-sewn button tufting, a traditional detail found on a Chesterfield sofa. The sofa is set on a polished chrome base. Milo Baughman, 1923-2003, was an American furniture designer and is considered to be a pioneer of modern design. In 1947, he established Milo Baughman Design Inc., and proceeded to design collections for a number of furniture companies, including Mode Furniture, Glenn of California, The Inco Company, Pacific Iron, Murray Furniture, Arc Gordon, George Kovacs, Winchendon, Directional, and Drexel. He also enjoyed a lengthy and productive association with Thayer Coggin Inc. of High Point, NC. Baughman was quite prolific throughout his career, and was especially well-known for his chairs, sofas, benches, and lounge chairs. This piece is in great overall vintage condition.
