Brodie Neill
Brodie Neill is a dynamic designer of modern and minimalist furniture that features an expressive approach to function. He plays with seamless, flowing forms while maintaining a sensitivity to the environmental impact of his work. Known for his critically acclaimed pieces that use discarded materials, he always puts the conservation of resources and protection of the environment first.
Born in Tasmania, Neill built furniture as a teenager in his spare time, using any simple tools at his disposal, before studying furniture design at the University of Tasmania. He graduated in 2001 with honors and then completed his master’s degree at the Rhode Island School of Design in 2004. After a successful stint working for leading brands in New York, he established his studio in the East End of London, where he began experimenting with ocean plastics and converting them into eco-friendly furnishings.
His work includes the acclaimed E-Turn chair, the Jet table, the Remix chaise longue and the @ Chair, which was included in Time Magazine’s Design 100. His Flotsam bench, made from plastic waste extracted from the ocean, was one of the innovative furnishings introduced at the 2019 Salone del Mobile in Milan.
Due to his sustainable design practices, he has been a guest speaker at the European Parliament and the United Nations. Since launching his atelier, Neill has worked with an impressive roster of clients, including Riva 1920, Swarovski and Kundalini, and has collaborated with international brands such as Microsoft, Mercedes-Benz and Alexander McQueen. He has won international design awards and exhibited extensively, including a solo show at the New York fashion showroom of Rubin & Chapelle.

- Beachcomber Counter Stool in WalnutBy Greg MitchellLocated in Los Angeles, CALight and strong, the Beachcomber Counter Stool evokes the sight of an old wooden single hull; it's lean, sturdy mast together with the rigging worthy of the high seas. Constructed of hand shaped legs and stretchers, each piece is carefully fit and pinned with hardwood pegs and wedges to last for generations, much like the sea craft that inspire them. For every bar stool, we start with scrupulously chosen lumber; each board must consist of straight grain and have absolutely no defects. This is not just for aesthetics, the clear grain gives the stool its strength. The boards are then milled to dimension and shaped by hand using a combination of machines and time honored hand tools. They are then given a polish by taking thin shavings with well sharpened planes and spokeshaves; rarely is sandpaper used in our shop. Once assembled, the Beachcomber bar stool...Category

- Spindle Counter Stool in Solid Walnut and Steel Designed by Craig BassamBy BassamFellowsLocated in Ridgefield, CTSince its release, the Spindle Chair’s distinctive silhouette has appeared in a vast array of celebrated commercial and residential interiors. The phenomenally successful piece was inspired by a visit to Louis Kahn’s Exeter Library. Designer Craig Bassam’s imagination was ignited when he noticed the traditional utilitarian chair juxtaposed against the powerful geometry of Kahn’s building. Seduced by its elemental simplicity, Bassam realized an updated spindle back chair would fit perfectly within the BassamFellows ‘Craftsman Modern’ aesthetic. The BassamFellows Spindle Chair offers a new take on the classic piece, a descendent of the classic English Windsor Chair. One first notices its weightless quality, which Bassam achieved by using metal for the chair’s legs and spindles, giving the illusion of two floating surfaces. This contemporary reboot makes the spindles less prominent, evoking a less rustic, 21st century setting for the chair. A counterpoint to the metal spindles is the chair’s timber elements, including an ultra-comfortable ergonomic seat carved from solid wood. Given its updated minimal silhouette, ultra-light materiality and concern for comfort, it’s the kind of chair you can envision in many contexts. The Spindle Collection includes counter and barstool...Category
