English 19th Century Carved Oak Joint Stool
About the Item
A wonderful oak joint stool made in England in the 19th century featuring a simple top that has a molded edge following down to wonderfully hand carved aprons with foliage pattern decoration on all four sides which allows for easy placement in any room. The stool is supported on splayed hand turned legs, joined by simple square stretchers. The oak is a lovely color with a rich patina. Characterful and with much charm it is the perfect height for an occasional table beside an armchair or sofa. Stools were the common seating for everyday people as arm chairs were reserved for the more wealthy. Joint stools were also used as a hiring technique for future craftsmen and often was the first project offered to prove your technique. Cleaned and polished with French paste wax this stool is ready for your immediate use. Be sure to view the detailed images for a closer look.
