19th Century European Chest of Drawers with Original Decoratively Painted Finish
About the Item
A Central European chest, with its original decorative paint, from the 19th century. This antique chest of drawers from Europe is beautifully adorned in its original hand painted artisan finish in a rinceaux of elegant scrolling acanthus leaves and shell motif about its top, three sides and skirt. The rectangular-shaped top has an elegantly carved trim molding just beneath its lip, which tops a carcase fitted with four full-sized drawers, the top which is somewhat discreet, as it appears hidden within the frieze. The front side posts are canted and adorned with carved acanthus pilasters. This chest is nicely raised on bracket carved feet. This 19th century European commode, with its exquisitely hand-painted finish will make a fabulous case-piece for your home while adding a subtle hint of green and gold to your interior design.
