Japanese antique wooden drawer/1868-1920/Wabi-Sabi "tansu" drawer

About the Item

This is an old wooden drawer made from the Meiji period to the Taisho period (1868-1920) in Japan. This was originally a drawer for storing Chinese medicine, etc., and was used in drug stores. Therefore, it is thought that there were many small drawers that were used to store various items. The handle part is made of iron. The wood material is paulownia wood. Paulownia wood has the property of maintaining a constant level of humidity, and in Japan, where humidity is high, paulownia wood was often used for drawers like this. The color has a taste due to aging. It has a wonderful wabi-sabi atmosphere. Regarding the condition of this item, there are holes from insect damage, but there are no insects. This is a common condition for this type of drawer. Due to vibration during transportation, a small amount of fine powder may come out from the holes, but this is an old item, so please understand. Inserting and removing drawers is smooth. It is in relatively good condition with no major defects. Such withdrawals are becoming fewer and fewer each year. This is a highly rare item. And it's very cool. This is a highly recommended item. Weight: 12.8kg [We mainly sell old Japanese items. We've seen tens of thousands of items so far.
