Sheraton Mahogany and Tiger Maple Chest or Server with Gallery and Tambour Doors

About the Item

An impressive Sheraton mahogany and tiger maple tall chest or server with a scrolled feather carved wooden gallery with central eagle and serpent finial surmounting a case with three fitted small drawers over a central tambour door, opening to a small storage compartment, flanked by several fitted small drawers, over three long drawers, flanked by reeded corner pilasters with carved capitals, all supported by four turned feet. All the drawers feature tiger maple fronts and decorative punched brass pulls, and many have been lined with baize at some point. This tall chest would make a great statement piece in any room! American origin, dating to the early 19th century in very good condition, with some minor surface and veneer imperfections, edge losses, and wear commensurate with age and use.     Replacements made: The eagle finial is a replacement. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. Minor fading. Very good condition, with some minor surface and veneer imperfections, edge losses, and wear commensurate with age and use. Tambour doors operate, but are delicate.
