Rosewood & Smoked Glass Coffee Table by Henning Nørgaard, Denmark, c. 1960's
About the Item
Introducing a rare floating top coffee table designed by Henning Nørgaard for Komfort of Denmark that is as iconic as it is architecturally fascinating. Constructed from solid Brazilian Rosewood the elegantly-designed frame is both simple and complex, subtle and bold and truly mesmerizing from all angles. The floating, smoked-glass top adds airiness to the design whilst it's thick cut heaviness adds stability.
Featuring rich variegated woodgrains unique only to rosewood as well as intricate finger joinery and minimal hardware this alluring table is an architectural wonder. The original smoked-glass top seeds within small wooden pegs cleverly designed to anchor the glass to the slight, wooden frame. With very few of these coffee tables available in such excellent original condition this is the chance of a lifetime to own an original condition artwork that is as beautiful as it is functional. - Glass Coffee Table Attributed to Adrian Pearsall for Craft Associates, USA, 1960By Adrian PearsallLocated in Deland, FLIntroducing a newly restored coffee table attributed to the incomparable Adrian Pearsall in the late 1950's and crafted by Craft Associates in the early 1960's. Featuring a base made from solid oak with extraordinary woodgrains this table is the epitome of American Mid-Century Modern Design. The glass top is newly cut to the original diameter and shows no wear whatsoever - It's as if this gorgeous piece has just left the factory 60+ years ago! Born in 1925 Adrian Pearsall began designing and building furniture in 1952 with his company named 'Craft Associates' which started first in his home shop and grew to a company with more than 650 craftsmen and employees. Pearsall’s work not only helped define Mid-Century Modern but also the idea that function does not have to be sacrificed for beauty. With most furniture before the mid-century being highly ornate and lacking in utilitarian use, his work was a much welcomed change. Clean lines, organic shapes, and black American walnut wood are just a few elements often found in Pearsall’s furniture and all are on display with this magnificent brutalist sofa. With it's iconic and instantly recognizable shape, exquisite woodgrains and newly restored condition this coffee table is ideal for designers and collectors alike searching for an authentic Adrian Pearsall piece that looks as if it was made today. Make it yours and elevate your home's aesthetic today before it's gone forever. ---Dimensions--- Width: 36 in / 91.44 cm Depth: 36 in / 91.44 cm Height: 22 in / 55.88 cm This now iconic coffee table attributed to Adrian Pearsall has recently undergone a complete restoration process and we love the results! The solid oak base has been hand-sanded and refinished bringing the stunning woodgrains back to their original luster and showing only minor scratches as seen in the detail photos provided.
