Executive blond oak desk by Jacques Hauville, produced by BEMA, France 1950. The design of great elegance favors the curve, the two boxes with 2 drawers have a library compartment on the visitor side. the handles are profiled.
Jacques Hauville is one of the most important creators of French reconstruction (1945-1955). He created BEMA (Bureau d'Etudes Modernes Appliquées à l'habitation) and produced furniture in light oak, characterized by a design of great fluidity and by the choice of materials such as plywood. Nicknamed the "gentleman designer", Jacques Hauville shows all his talent in this rare office.

Jacques Hauville
Jacques Hauville graduated from the Ecole Supérieure des Arts et Métiers and first started his career under the guidance of Marcel Gascoin, who was a well-known decorateur in post-war France. In 1948 his work was noticed at the Salon des Arts Ménagers. This lead to him working for many different manufacturers such as Bema.
