About the Item
A large semi-abstract acrylic painting by the Spanish artist Miguel Ybáñez.
Ybáñez was born in Madrid in 1946 and currently lives and works between Amsterdam and Ampúrdan on the Costa del Sol. Working in the tradition of the Arte Povera, Ybánez adopts a range of techniques for his paintings, sculptures and assemblages varying in scale and form. His semi-abstract, semi-figurative paintings are often executed in intense colours and bold gestures.
During the course of his career Ybáñez has exhibited widely in Europe and South America. Solo exhibitions include the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Rio de Janeiro (BR), Museo de Arte Moderno de São Paolo (BR), Singer Museum in Laren (NL) and the Museo Español de Arte Contemporaneo Madrid (SP). Group exhibitions include Spanish Art Tomorrow, which travelled to the Bronx Art Museum, New York (US), Corcoran Museum, Washington (US) and Metropolitan Museum, Miami (US), among others.
