Hugó Scheiber (1873-1950)
One of the best-known of the Hungarian avant-garde of the 20th century. Until 1914, he painted landscapes and still lifes, as well as portraits, showing the influence of impressionism and plein air. In the 1910s, his style was influenced by German expressionism, thus he developed his new stylized world of colors and shapes. In the 1920s, his pictures appeared in many places around the world. In addition to the German successes, his drawings and paintings were also noticed in England and America at this time: he had exhibitions in London and New York, and in the latter city he participated in the Brooklyn Museum's Modern Art exhibition in 1926. In the 1930s, the Art Deco style already influenced his art, and his works captured the essence of modern, metropolitan life and people.
In our studio, we collect exciting pieces, mainly from the European period of the 1930s-1970s. We love bohemian and special pieces. We refurbish the furniture, always using classic craft techniques. During the renovation, we choose a textile from which we make only one piece. In this way, we make furniture of which there is guaranteed to be one.
