Victorian Crystoleum Picture of Mother and Child in Original Frame, circa 1890
About the Item
This is a good late Victorian Crystoleum picture, circa 1890.
The picture shows a woman and girl (mother and daughter) in the pathway of an old house. The glass is concave. The frame is of the same period, probably original, with some slight wear and old restoration. The picture carries a framer or retailers label to the back of G Wilson & Sons of 58 Market Place, Malton, North Yorkshire, England who is registered as trading there in 1893.
Crystoleum's were very popular in the late 19th century and although many were made, only a few survive intact today.
Please note that this item is very difficult to photograph due to the reflections in the glass!
